Wednesday, January 28th, the Prefect of Bologna, Dr.
Angelo Tranfaglia visited our Institute. Accompanied by Cavazza's
President Pier Michele Borra, its Director Mario Barbuto and Counsellor
Ernesto Dini, the Prefect primarily visited the Anteros Museum where blind
and visually impaired persons with an art and aesthetic background
reproduce numerous ancient and modern masterpieces in tridimensional
format. The group then made a stop at the Educational Counselling Service
formed with experts in education, special eds, computer science, mobility,
etc. who focus on school integration of children and youth living with
vision loss in relationship with their families, schools and social health
services. The visit continued on to the Low Vision Centre where are tested
special devices, for example the CCTVs used to enlarge images for people
with residual vision. Finally, the Prefect visited the Technology Help
Centre |
responsible for the development and maintenance of
computer and multimedia aids necessary to allow blind people the access to
information, communication and culture through the use of computers and
many high tech products. The Prefect had a talk with workers,
collaborators, and the staff of the various services to whom he heartily
expressed praises for the initiatives and work done with such passion and
competence. The visit concluded with a meeting in the boardroom of the
Institute during which the Prefect manifested a particular interest for
the Institute's activities ensuring his own

to rapidly return on a second visit on the occasion of
the graduation ceremony for young blind people who have completed the
course of switchboard operators and will be receiving their
diplomas.
