For a Sustainable Welfare System

Day seminar on opportunities for development and application of technologies for people with a visual impairment
Federico Bartolomei

Technological evolution is inundating today all areas of daily life and, consequently, the world of disability.

Modern technologies when properly developed and assimilated can greatly improve quality of life in various environments and respond quite well to the needs of the blind and visually impaired. Emilia Romagna is one of the leading regions in the field of research and implementation of new and efficient tech solutions designed for people living with vision loss, and the Cavazza Institute is positioned as its main R&D hub.

A sustainable welfare system, no longer only an expenditure, is a generator of development opportunities and technological advancement: this issue was discussed during the conference, entitled "Technologies for inclusion: an opportunity for development," which was held May 28 in the Conference Hall Paolo Bentivoglio of the Institute for the Blind F. Cavazza. Many interesting contributions were made by various speakers on the occasion. The seminar ended with a united message about the importance of fostering opportunities to share experiences and to merge and combine technologies of a different nature to take advantage of the possibilities and resources of the area to reach the common objective of overcoming barriers.
