Scientific divulgation on subjects such as prevention and visual rehabilitation has always played a crucial role in the Cavazza Institute’s activities. Medicine is constantly advancing, with new technologies, techniques and therapeutic approaches, and therefore we must keep up to date on subjects regarding visual impairment.
Courses and Conferences provide a way to guarantee that healthcare and other professionals remain updated on innovations at a time in which we are witnessing a significant technological transition, which, as mentioned daily in the mass media, sees the introduction of artificial intelligence in a variety of fields, including sight.
Training ophthalmologists, orthoptists, teachers, psychologists, and social workers in these areas improves the quality of support provided to patients, with actions that are personalized as much as possible, effective, and state-of-the-art, able to meet the real needs of users.
Training initiatives such as the hands-on Course for Assistive Technology operator, designed in Cavazza together with I.Ri.Fo.R., now in its 7th edition (rather than national events such as the AMGO Conference organized by the Institute in collaboration with the Unione Italiana Ciechi e Ipovedenti and sponsored by the Agency for the prevention of blindness (APB Italia)), are now considered reference events for the many professionals who attend them.
The recent AMGO 2024 conference held in Turin was a valuable opportunity to network for more than 300 professionals in various fields from all over Italy.
Moreover, the promotion of an integrated multidisciplinary approach is essential for dealing with the complex issues linked to visual impairment. An empathetic society, ready to meet a variety of needs (such as safe travel, access to services, study or work) should ensure holistic, complete management.
Sensitivity, skill, and quality of performance can be improved only by increasing our knowledge. This is why the Cavazza Institute, alongside the daily work performed for the many blind and visually-impaired people who refer to our services for help with the demands of everyday life, conducts a full program of scientific research and divulgation.
